Practical Information about the Médiathèque:

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the Médiathèque opens at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m.  On Sundays, it is open from 2-6.  On Mondays and Thursdays, the Médiathèque is closed.  It has ten sections on three floors.  The inscription fee is 18€ for a year, but free if you’re under 25, and you need a card if you want to borrow.   Since it’s a public library, you can always go there to read or watch movies, etc. for free.  There are computers and activities for children and teenagers.  The address is 1, Place du 14 juillet 34500 Béziers.  The phone number is 04 99 41 05 50, and you can access their website by clicking here.

Would you like to improve your French at the mediatheque ?

Like lots of different languages such as German, Spanish, or Hindi, learning French is proposed by the mediatheque in a special section : “labo de langues”. I’s an amazing program ! You make an appointment in the mediatheque and you can go learn french or different languages for 1 or 2 hours in a soundproof room where you speak, write and listen. It’s an original idea and with it, you can easily have fun during your vacation. Having fun and learning at the same time is now possible with the language lab ! It’s on the top floor, and it’s free ! Just one condition : you must have a mediatheque membership card !

Have a good time !

The Cinema Section:

My favorite section of the Médiathèque is the one focused on “cinema”.  You can find all kinds of movies, TV series, or Manga.  In the Médiathèque you can find all of your favorite movies.  Every category of movies is there (horror, adventure, action…).  If you can’t find the movie you’re looking for, you can use a computer to find it.  You can find whatever movie from whatever era you like.   Hope you can find something to make you happy!

The 1st and 2nd Floors:

I like the second floor because it has a lot of movies, music, and other things (books, comics, etc.).  I like it because you can watch the movies that you’ve borrowed on the spot.  It’s free, so it’s cool!

I also like the first floor because there is a lot of Manga, and you can find what you want (books by modern authors).  It also has a lot of computers, and even a piano that you can play, and that’s fun!

These are a few of my favorite things:

The Médiathèque is very good because we don’t need to pay to get books.  You just need to have a card.  I get books every week.  On Monday and Thursday, the Médiathèque is closed.  I like the Médiathèque.  It is always free.  You can watch movies in the kids’ library.  You can also watch TV.   There is a piano, and you can play for 30 minutes!

  1. Reblogged this on C'est La Vie! and commented:

This is a new blog about the Languedoc, and about Béziers in particular! It’s written by my teenage ESL students in Béziers. Their goal is to share everything they love to do around the region with English speaking tourists. What a neat idea! I’m so proud of them. Check it out, and if you have a minute, let them know what you think of what they’re doing. It’s a challenge to do it in English, but they’re motivated!

  2. Wow, the Médiathèque sounds like a great place! Thank you for your informative articles. I’m sure that those who are looking for interesting activities, as well as ways to improve their French, will be able to use the information you provided to get the most out of their time in Béziers! I look forward to learning more from you in the future!
